Clinics, Travel & Flu Vaccinations

Our practice hosts the following services and clinics:

Antenatal Clinic

Opening Times Wednesdays 9.00am - 1.00pm. For antenatal Clinics please book at the PCT desk, in front of the building.

Additional Information: Patients are seen by the community midwife at the clinic by appointment only. One of the doctors is always in attendance. Please remember to book for a postnatal check at the surgery, six weeks after the birth of the baby.

Asthma Clinic

We offer Annual Review with one of our Practice Nurses and patients are invited to attend clinics by letter/phone/text/ messages on prescriptions, during their birthday month.

Additional Information: This is run by the practice nurses in conjunction with the doctors, by appointment only during normal surgery hours.

Baby Clinic

Opening Times Wednesday 2.00pm - 4.00pm.

Additional Information: The baby clinics are run by Dr Shanti Parekh and a practice nurse for child development checks and immunisations and allow an opportunity to discuss other problems eg sleeping, feeding and child health worries with the doctor. Please do not bring ill or infectious children to this clinic as it is a ‘well baby’ clinic. You will be sent a appointment when your child is due a 8 week check by the doctor for immunisation.

Cervical Smears

It is very important for all women over 25 years of age who are sexually active to have cervical smears. This is a test to detect changes in the cervix, which, may in years to come, lead to cancer. These change when detected by smears and treated can prevent cancer from developing. Chaperone, service if need be, is available at the practice. Please talk to the Practice Nurse if you have any Queries or worries about the smear test.

Additional Information: Appointments for smear tests should be made with the practice nurses. Please tell the receptionist why you want your appointment and do ensure that you are in the mid-cycle if you still have menstrual periods.

Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) Clinic

This is a special clinic for our patients suffering from CHD. Patients are seen by the Practice Nurse. There is an annual review for patients with history of heart attack and/or Angina. The CHD clinic is by appointment and you will be invited to attend as necessary. Two weeks prior to being asked for review, you will be asked to come into the surgery for blood tests.

Additional Information: This clinic is held at the surgery. Please ask at reception for an appointment.


Additional Information: The doctors make referrals when needed to these services.

Memory Clinic

This is a special service for patients complaining of memory loss or dementia-like symptoms.

Additional Information: The nurse holds a clinic at the surgery. The doctor makes referrals to GP First Ltd, Eldercare Facilitator.

Diabetic Clinic

This is a special clinic for our patients suffering from diabetes.

Additional Information: This is run by the practice nurses in conjunction with the doctors, by appointment only, during normal surgery hours.

Family Planning

Additional Information: Contraceptive care is provided by all the doctors and practice nurses during normal surgery hours by appointment only. The practice nurse can carry out pill checks.

Sexual Health

Patients are referred to Genitourinary Medicine Clinics, Cannock hospital.

Chlamydia self-testing is available for all 16-24 years old, please ask at reception for a pack.

Health Promotion

Additional Information: It is our policy to pursue preventative medicine for all patients. Our practice nurses offer "well person checks", smoking cessation advice and also advice on disease prevention.

Patients with asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, thyroid or hypertension are advised to have at least an annual check-up. Have a "birthday" check-up then you will always remember the date to re-book.

Additional Health awareness educational sessions are organised at the Surgery, to which patients and carers are invited.

Health Checks

We offer a full Health check to all our new patients registering with the practice. The Health care assistant checks your height, weight, blood pressure and urine. A blood test is offered if necassary. Patients already registered may be offered a Health check if they have not been seen in the last 5 years.

Hypertension Clinic

This is a clinic for our patients who suffer with high blood pressure. It is by appointment only.

NHS Health Checks

The government has recommended that all adults aged between 40-75 have health checks. This will enable us to review your risk of developing chronic illnesses over the next 10 years. We will check your blood pressure, fasting cholesterol and sugar levels.For those at risk we may start medication to treat your cholesterol. Patients will be invited for these checks.

Joint Injections

Additional Information: These procedures are offered at the practice for various rheumatic and joint conditions.

Minor Surgery

Additional Information: Dr BK Singh carries out minor surgical procedures by appointment and he will be happy to advise you on which procedures can be performed. Once minor surgery is confirmed, please see the consent information leaflet. The doctor will ask you to sign a consent form and will explain the procedure of surgery, prior to carrying out the minor surgery.

Non-NHS Examinations

Additional Information: The doctors are happy to carry out medicals, eg insurance and driving licence, by appointment outside of surgery hours. Please telephone the surgery for an appointment. The fees charged for these services are in line with the BMA-recommended charges.

Patients 75 And Over

Additional Information: If you are 75 years of age or over, you should be seen annually, either by your doctor, the practice nurse, or the district nurse. This can be arranged at the surgery or, if that is not possible, a home visit will be arranged.

Flu Vaccination

Additional Information: An influenza vaccination is particularly recommended for patients with heart, lung or kidney disease, diabetes, those over 65 and residents of nursing and rest homes.

Please contact the reception staff in September for details of the vaccination dates and to make an appointment. If you are unable to attend the surgery, a home visit will be arranged to undertake this facility.

Well Woman And Well Man Clinics

Additional Information: These clinics are run by the practice nurses during normal surgery hours by appointment only.
